One of the greatest privileges of my work has been witnessing people discover hope and meaning in the aftermath of profound suffering. Time and again, I have seen that this journey begins when people are truly heard.
Synne Garff
I am Director of the Centre for Faith, Loss and Trauma, pastor and author, specializing in Moral Injury and the Trauma Healing Institute (THI) Method. My work focuses on helping people navigate trauma, grief, and profound life changes and find hope and meaning in the midst of suffering.
Through the Centre, I train professionals in the THI Method, a research-based approach integrating biblical reflection with insights from trauma and grief studies, and develop educational programmes and professional resources.
My background spans journalism, communications, and international church development, including the development and fundraising of projects in Bible translation, Scripture engagement, and trauma healing. I have worked internationally and across cultures with people affected by war, displacement, illness, bereavement, and other life crises. These experiences continue to shape my teaching, writing, public speaking, and pastoral practice.
International Experience
Through my work with the Danish Bible Society and the Centre for Faith, Loss and Trauma, I have delivered training, led fundraising initiatives, developed international partnerships, and supported trauma-informed programmes across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and North America. This work has included projects in Kenya, Uganda, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Egypt, Israel, the West Bank, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Türkiye, Armenia, Ukraine, China, the Faroe Islands, and the United States.
